One of the things I love most about being married to Paul is all our little inside jokes. He can look at me and I can look him and with the cut of our eyes we know what the other is thinking or getting ready to say.
With one word I can instantly break his bad mood and make him crack a smile because one word can bring make him think of an entire story, a inside joke, a comedy routine by our favorite comedian, and good memories that only he and I "get."
Paul and I have our own language. I can talk to him about YOU right in front of your face and you'd never know because Paul and I just "get it." Though I would never do that with any of my blogger friends.... just people in I know from real life, promise!.
I hesitate to share any of my inside jokes with the blogger world because they are so very valuable to me and I cherish each and every one because it's just one more thing that Paul and I alone share.
But there is one inside joke that I just can't keep to myself... its Paul and I's "marriage song." What is a marriage song you ask? Well, it's a song that totally captures our marriage and what it's like to be married to each other.
When I told Paul that this is our "marriage song", we just busted out laughing and now I can't listen to it without getting the giggles even though the song tries to be so serious and dark, I always laugh!
I mean when you put this song into the perspective of "this is what it's like to be married to you" how can you not laugh?? Or is it just me and Paul that find this kind of thing beyond funny?
It's stuff like this that makes me love Paul even more than I ever thought I could.

Travis and I have tons of looks and stuff, too. Its to be able to communicate without having to say a word. And I love that Metallica is your "marriage song". I just called Travis at work to ask him what he thought our song is and he has no idea. So, we are going to think about which song would fit. As soon as I have one, I will let you know:)
I think laughter in a marriage is a key component. Chuck and I crack each other up all the time. I will have to get back with you on our "marriage song" neither one of us can think of one right now. However now I am worried about you guys talking about us while we are there, oh what the hell chuck and I will probably be doing the same thing. LMAO
Mark and I have the same thing. Little inside jokes that we can laugh our asses off over and no one else would know what we were talking about.
Becky- One rule, it can't be a love song. LOL
Twingly- Paul and I only talk about we don't like or want to make fun up. You aren't on that list. :-)
Crazy Lady- That is what makes a marriage stand the test of time, in my opinion.
Oh yes laughter HAS to be right up there w/ compatibility in bed!!
Hahahaha! AWESOME MARRIAGE SONG!
Mike and I have tons of inside jokes and songs - so many little sayings that we crack up over and people are like WTF?
Mike once said that our marriage song was "Crazy Train" lol
Well, I know you said "not a love song" but the first song I thought of for us is Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing at All". We used it in our wedding and it's always been special to us. But I another one that cracks us up & has just between us implications is "If I Had a $1,000,000" by Barenaked Ladies.
btw...I'm Malia, I write for Blissfully Domestic (Wedded Bliss). I believe I'll be seeing you in Nashville this month at BlissDom '08? Looking forward to it!
Malia
This was beautifl
